The Twins Minimize

Congratulations to Sydney and Kiersten Braasch. The Twins played up to the 18U division in the last tournament of 2009 and took 1st place, leaving them at the top of the rankings for the 16U division AND the 18U division! The Twins are playing up in the 18U division this year.

The Twins have been selected in 2010 to attend the High Performance Camp and the High Performance Championships at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California where they placed 2nd in the 17U division and earned an invitation to return to the Olympic Training Center in December for the USA Holiday Training Camp. They were among the eight girls selected from all of the High Performance tryouts across the country.

Liz Minimize

Liz Theesfeld attended the High Performance Tryouts in Phoenix and Dallas. She was invited to train this summer at the Olympic Training Center at Chula Vista and was also invited to participate in the High Performance Camp and the High Performance Championships in Long Beach, California where she placed 2nd and earned an invitation to return to the Olympic Training Center in December for the USA Holiday Training Camp.

Ashley and Mackenzie Minimize

Mackenzie Moore and Ashley Prince were selected by the USA Beach program to represent the USA in an exchange program to Russia. Ashley and Mackenzie will travel to Russia, visit the Black Sea, and get an opportunity to work with some of Russia's top international beach coaches.

Ashley and Mackenzie have also been invited to the High Performance Championships at the Olympic Training Center on July 24th and the AAU Junior Olympic Championships in California on July 29th. They placed 3rd in the 17U division of the High Performance Championship.

Ashley and Mack travelled with 692 to Long Beach and Phoenix earlier this summer to participate in additional High Performance tryouts and we are so excited to see their dedication pay off for them. These trips will be the opportunity of a lifetime and we are so proud to have 692 represented on the US team.

Kylie and Kimmy Minimize

Kimmy and Kylie have had a very successful season. This is their first year playing 16U, the most competitive division in the region. They played in 11 tournaments this season and medaled in 10 of them!

692 National Team Minimize

This will be a group of our best players, 16 or older, that have been through at least one season with us. We know exactly what the Olympic Training Center is looking for and our goal is to prepare these players for the High Performance Tryouts, we will be able to focus our attention on more advanced skills and drills with this group and I am excited about what we can accomplish. Scott Stover will be coaching this group personally.

Program Duration: This program will begin on March 1st and run through our tryout in May... a little longer than a regular summer season... Some of our players have decided not to play club this year and focus their complete attention on Beach, while other players are going to do both.

Practices: Our practices will be at Yucatan on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30-6:30

Tournaments: Our plan is to go to two CBVA tournaments in California, one or two out of state USA HP tryouts like we did last year, and pick up a few local adult tournaments at Yucatan.

Partners: You will NOT need a partner for this program. We will train all the girls as individuals and then pair them up for the tournaments... maybe mixing them up each time.

Cost: The cost will be $780 for the preseason. This entire amount will be due on March 1st, but starting this year we will be equipped to take credit cards.

Equipment: Each girl will receive some equipment just like during the normal season... and since it will be cooler, it may include a hoodie or jacket too... we have some cool new things in the works.

We are trying to come up with some great new things to throw into this program, since there is so much talent to work with. Bivin is still working on a program to match our players up with some girls from the AVP when we are out there... so hopefully we can put together some amazing experiences for this group.

This program is still being developed, so some of the details could change before March. I already have 12 players signed up for the 2011 season, and they are 12 of our strongest players. If this sounds like something you are interested in, email me at Scott@692beach.com and I'll let you know if I think you would be a good fit for this group.

USA Beach High Performance Championship Minimize

Mackenzie Moore, Sydney Braasch, Liz Theesfeld, Kiersten Braasch, and Ashley Prince were among the handful of girls selected from all over the country to participate in the High Performance Championships in Long Beach, California. Liz was partnered with a girl from Arizona and all 5 girls medaled in the Gold Bracket, earning themselves an invitation to return to the Olympic Training Center in December for the Holiday Camp.

USA To Send 20 Beach Players to Russia Minimize

The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs’ SportsUnited Office, in conjunction with USA Volleyball, is sending 20 beach volleyball athletes – 10 boys and 10 girls between the ages of 14-18 along with three coaches – to Russia in August

The group will be hosted by the Russian Volleyball Federation and will visit both Moscow and Anapa.

Two-time Olympic gold medalist Misty May-Treanor will also travel to Russia as a Sports Envoy and will guide the American and Russian players through beach volleyball clinics.

“The event will give several up and coming USA beach athletes a taste of international travel and training,” said Ali Wood Lamberson, USA Volleyball Director of International and Beach High Performance Programs. “We will be forging relationships with the Russian athletes and coaches, one of the top emerging countries on the international beach scene, and exposing them to beach volleyball USA style.”

This group will include Dr Scott Stover, the director of 692, as one of the coaches, as well as Ashley Prince and Mackenzie Moore. Ashley and Mackenzie have played for 692 for three years and we are very excited to have these three as part of the delegation to represent the USA.
